this is the result in the pit the morning after the firing. as you can see, stains are left in the ash by some of the ingredients in the pit. the pieces are covered in ash, and some in the middle are still smoldering.
the pit is not opened until a specified time, ensuring that everyone who wants to be present for it can be.
pieces are then carefull unstacked from inside, and gathered on carts.
